CABINET MORY PRESTATIONS interpreting at the 50th Ordinary Session of the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption in Arusha, Tanzania, November 17-22, 2025
On rare occasions, the African Union has allowed interpreters to participate in the group photo with officials. I was honored and privileged to provide simultaneous interpretation in the booth with Maman Ndongo Justine Keller (in the orange dress), a trainer of the interpreters of the United Nations system. Commonly known as La Mère (The Mother) in the milieu, she is considered by most of her peers to be the best English-French interpreter in Africa and one of the best in the world. This is the second time in five years that I have been invited to work as her colleague in the French booth, first for one month (2021) and then for one week (2025). She constitutes a superexcellent school.
Thanks La Mère, for the shared experience and steadily provided advice.
All the great interpreters who have worked with you say it is always an opportunity to team up with you as we learn a lot from your rigor, precision, style, accuracy and the turns of phrase you use.
